Thanksgiving 2011 in Fresno

Thanksgiving 2011 in Fresno - had a wonderful time as always! We were finally taking a road trip in 2 years!

Paris - L'Orsay Musuem - April 2005

Venice - April 2005

The beach below La Montage Resort & Spa - newly discovered favorite place for Nook...unfortunately, the stairs were too steep down for him to climb down and back up with low hemoglobin levels! So this particular day the three of us went down and spent some time and Nook was watching us from the resort...

Sanvi was ecstatic to be playing on the beach! One of those wonderful sunny southern California days with beautiful ocean vistas....This was our last family outing to the beach....Nook wanted to go several times to the beach in the last few weeks after the pleural effusion and before the BMT, but could never muster the energy to even just drive as a passenger in the car....

Hi Sangeetha - I just saw the email...and am in shock. I thought I would post on the happier times page as I have many happy memories of Nook. here are a few...

I met Nook in 1993 - a long time before he knew you. He was visiting Atlanta from Missouri, and crashed first in our neighbor's dorm room couch. We hung out a lot and he spent a ton of time in our room. He was looking for a job in Atlanta and accepted his first job while still in our dorm room. And yes, he used to call me "Naaye!"

He was so proud he learned Tamil just by spending a few years in TamilNadu and his Tamil was indeed good. He knew every movie song!

He went to work in his first job out of school and his boss would be annoyed if he left work after a 10 hour day...and then more upset as he put in a 12 hour day. A month of that and Nook was not going to have it. He quit and looked for a job - I helped him with his resume. He found one in California.

The night before he left for California, we decided we would go out to Buckhead in Atlanta. He had a rental car and backed out of his space...and BAAAM - ran right into a brand new SUV. We traded phone numbers (and kept insurance out) and he took off to California.

I visited him in his house in CA a few months later. He had bought a new car...and true to him, he went out and bought a brand new Infiniti G20. He was nice enough to let me drive it.

I introduced him to one of my wife's former classmates and he became good friends with that family. And then we lost touch for a bit.

We would keep in touch on and off - he would talk about his intense desire to not be in software and be in the investment side. He was so proud he made the switch.

I and my wife came to visit you and him. We walked with you, and then went on to a hike and came back and met you as well.

I then lost touch with him, talked to him a few months ago...and now see this email today.

As hard as this may be, I want to see if we can think of his good memories, his sense of humor and who he was as a person.

I will try and make a trip out there - dont know how soon. My thoughts and prayers with you and family. Stay strong.

  5. Hi Sangeetha,
This is Ravi. I still have fond memories how Nook helped me get set up in this country back in 96. I remember the meals we shared in my apartment. I still have memories of the trip Nook made with me to Atlantic City when he visited NJ. I pray for all of you and pray that he is at a place of rest.
