Nook minus spleen - day 2

Platelets still at 4 at last blood draw! Blood draws are then every 4 hours. Still waiting for the doctor to go on rounds so that I can get a status update. The good part is the surgeon's fellow who came to check on him said the blood that's being drained into a collection bag from his surgical incision looks as expected. She said when such a large part is taken out - there's a vacuum inside that the body tries to fill up with fluids. He is back on the dialysis machine - so the temperatures are down. I hope the rest of the fluids drain and the general edema in his body reduces! I look at people outside the hospital and wonder when I can go back to the mundaneness of life- sometimes that's more of a welcome change than this wait and see bubble that we are in for an ICU patient!!!!

  1. I wish I have some way to make all this trauma go away and get Nook back with full healthy and happy self!! All we can do is pray with all heart and sincearity that he will heal and be back with your family!! keep your faith and as the doctors indicated it is a long and painful journey to recovery..but recover he will for sure! It is no doubt very hard to be in this situation , you are doing amazingly great!! We will continue to send the positive energy to Nook, you are always in our thoughts!!!
