WELCOME TO NOOK'S HEALTH BLOG - STATUS UPDATES
My name is Sangeetha and I am authoring this blog on behalf of my husband - Nook (to friends) a.k.a Babu (to family) to provide some level of communication in terms of updates on his difficult journey to our supportive family and friends who are as anxious as I am for him to completely heal, and be whole and healthy again! Thank you all for your prayers and words of support and encouragement.

Platelet count
Forgot to mention platelet count, and I know a lot of you have that question on your mind. It is still oscillating between 70's to the 100's. But it went below the set up threshold of 75 twice in the last 2-3 days, so they did transfuse him with a unit of platelets each time. As of 2 AM today, the platelet count is at 76. They will give him more platelets prior and during surgery if required. But the surgeon quoted she is a "dry surgeon" and has a reputation for doing her procedures without shedding a single drop of blood! She said every patient she gets is in a fragile state and she's used to doing 1000's of procedures like this. She's actually a Head & Neck oncology surgeon and is the head of the department. Thank God for the great team here at City of Hope! Nook is getting the best doctors!
